Quitter caught up

I was one of those “she’d do well if she wasn’t so busy looking out the window or distracting other people” types at school. I didn’t go out of my way to be naughty but I was just so bored a lot of the time that it made me mischievous cos I was always looking for something to entertain me.

I wasn’t always like that – I was actually SOOOO good when I was at Primary school but something seemed to happen in my secondary school! Haha!

I just did enough to get me some GCSEs and went to the local shit college to do my A levels, again I found this pretty uninspiring.

I wasn’t interested in going to Uni at all so I just didn’t bother applying and took a few years off doing random crap jobs here and there and just dossing about really.

It wasn’t until I got to 21 that I thought maybe I would like to study as I found a subject I was really interested in. I was lucky and I got into a university in London – not one of the best but I reckon a degree is a degree, right?

It was hard work getting back into the studying thing as my brain had got a bit lazy but I was learning about stuff I wanted to learn about so I got really into it and sat at the front and everything.

I did manage to come out of it with a 2-2 which was pretty good I reckon. That was a few years ago and what I’ve realised since is that education opens doors. I didn’t end up going down the path I thought I would but having a degree gave me more options and I’m now working in a field I really love and doing pretty OK.
